Work Avoidance

I'm something of a master in the art of work-avoidance, but even by my standards re-designing my blog was a stroke of genius. It felt pleasantly businesslike, but involved little in the way of Thinking or Coming Up With Words and has yielded tangible and rather satisfying results. I'm not sure about the birds up there, but I'm pleased with the old-fashioned typewritery font. What do you think?

What's next I wonder? Might look out some receipts for my tax return. Or research something.

Oh, I think you definitely need to research something now. Preferably on youtube. Aftershave ads are generally good.

Glad to hear you've not been driven to cleaning or anything yet. I've wasted quite a lot of time watching squirrels out of the window this year - they LOVE mince pies ...

I like the font - it looks very businesslike! Tax returns? That comes a close second to oven cleaning if you ask me. Research is MUCH better - surfing "hot-stud" websites for hero inspiration is much more like my idea of fun if you ask me! Caroline x

p.s sorry for the repetition of "if you ask me". I *really* must proof-read more! Caroline x

LOL to the looking for receipts for your tax return. That's impressive procrastination.

I'm loving the new blog, especially the font.

Love the new blog style and am impressed with the lengths you will go to to avoid work, but really, receipts for the tax return isn't that going a bit far?

How about finding yourself a new hero - much more fun. For all of us.

Love the new look, India :o)

Tax return? Ha. I had my letter from the Inland Revenue this morning. (But my accountant has already filed my return. I just have to cough up money, now. Next week.)

Haha - Ros I love that! My youngest is a bit like that and has almost those exact same bird stickers on her bedroom wall. Won't show her the clip incase she starts having nightmares!

Rach, what are you doing feeding your mince pies to the squirrels? That's really cheating. I know we're all a bit fed up of them but here I am heroically making it my mission to finish them all up single-handedly. And the chocolate, and the biscuits. I know - Legend.

Caroline, I'll let you into a tiny secret (*whispers*) ((before Christmas I paid someone to clean my oven for me)) Which is great because I now have nothing to do but google 'hot studs' once I've finished receipt-hunting - thanks for the suggestion! (I didn't even notice the repetition, which just shows how on the ball I am...Must have been distracted by the hot studs...)

Thanks for the blog thumbs-up Lacey. My husband is pretty impressed with the tax thing too. He's done my tax return, but spent ages moaning about my dire lack of a filing system for expenses. I'm just proving to him that, given a little time I can lay my hands on anything. (Even if I do have to search in every single handbag at the back of my wardrobe first)

Linda, I already have my upcoming heroes in place, but I do agree that reminding myself of exactly what makes them so attractive is an excellent idea, and bound to have a very positive effect on the book. I mean, no point in starting writing again until it's fresh in my mind, is there? Youtube here I come...

Thanks Kate. Husband has warned me how much I'm going to have to pay. Is severely testing my previous chirpy claims to not mind paying tax as I fundamentally believe in the system. I do, I do... (*weeps as takes out cheque book...*)

Yes, do some fun research. The font reminds me of some old school paper.

Revenge? Reunion? Something like the NA Pan Am with flight attendants? A mini series which takes in France, an art dealer, vinter or in Argentina, polo player, NYC hotelier? Whatever you do, it will be perfect!

However, I would like to see you propose to your editor a family miniseries, you are so creative. xxoo

Yes, that's it Jane - an old school paper is exactly what it's like! *happy now*

Marilyn - what fabulous ideas! The flight attendant one is definitely tempting - two books (or three?) best friends... SO MUCH SCOPE! I also love the idea of an art dealer. Gosh, better get on with the book I'm writing so I can have some fun thinking up outlines...
